Masterson Equestrian Trust

The Masterson Equestrian Trust (MET) Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, has been established as a mechanism to ensure that MSP will continue as a facility for horse related activities and events. The MET Board of Directors convened their first meeting on November 3, 2004 and are excited about the impact we can have in sustaining and enhancing the facilities at the park. Parks & Recreation is very supportive, and we anticipate and hope that the equestrian community, too, will join with us in our efforts. From those who enjoy coming to the park to ride casually to those who appreciate it as a venue for competitions, the Foundation can be the conduit for positive initiatives and policies that make a difference.

All who exercise the unique opportunity to engage in equestrian activities at Masterson Station Park appreciate the importance of its continued availability and preservation for that use. An open, municipal park is rare, and like all valuable assets must be protected for the use of all of us and for future generations. Increased and planned future development around the park will continue to put pressure on government and others to "carve out" areas for restricted activities, further eroding the Parks' open spaces. The time is now to take measures to identify Masterson Station Park as an equestrian facility, to preserve its open beauty, to enhance its facilities and grounds, and to establish it as a model for the "Horse Capital of the World."
